So I'm off to art class tonight, yes, you read it right, but I'll repeat it for the cheap seats, I'M OFF TO ART CLASS. Mercy. I happen to believe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks and I want to learn to paint! I'm armed only with sheets of inspiration and boot loads of ignorant confidence ("I want to be able to paint like this, dear art teacher and don't let my lack of talent discourage you"). As I told a friend this afternoon, I was rather good at art in Grade 7 so I MUST have some talent somewhere. Oh, the folly of the foolish! And did I mention my art class buddy is a friend who has a degree in Visual Arts? Not intimidating at all. Not at all.
I love these espadrilles painted by Sara Midda and published in her book, Sara Midda's South of France. You can buy the book for $14.25 at amazon. It's beautiful.
The only thing left to ask is, what does one wear to their very first art class? Do you think it would be too much to turn up in a beret and a smock?

Beret, smock, a fake moustache & a sneer. Good luck & have a great time!
ReplyDeleteDefinately a smock and beret! Have fun. Mimi xx
ReplyDeleteI bet you will surprise yourself. Seriously, it's practice, practice, practice :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement ladies! My first class was certainly a shock to the system. It's going to take lots and lots and LOTS of practice! Nx
ReplyDeleteAh yes and wasn't it fun?! And aren't you glad you wore that beret and spok with an outrageous French accent?!
