California Dreamin'

As it's not possible to overload on Rob Lowe I thought I'd share some pictures of the dream house he and his wife have built on California's coast as featured in the current issue of Architectural Digest.

Grand but tasteful.

I like the occasional table on the right.

The window seat looks big enough to be a window bed, love it.

As Liz Lemon would say - "I want to go to there."

His last digs weren't too shabby either.

No Tickets for You

So I'm just going to come out and say it, I'm bitter and twisted that I didn't get tickets to any of Oprah's Australian shows! I've watched all of them (hang I've given up Saturday mornings to watch the marathons!), I've chanted the name, I've cried the tears, I've ridden the weight roller coaster (literally), I've read that biography (and put it down because I felt like a traitor) so damn it, why aren't I coming to her show.

Of course I know the odds, 20 gazillion people vying for not that many tickets but my glass-half-full-type of personality still thought I would be one of the lucky ones. Not so.

And then this morning, just in case I didn't understand the first rejection...

Tomas and Jones

My talented friends over at Tomas & Jones have just completed a furniture restoration and I thought you should all see it...

The before, there were a matching pair of these...

...and the big reveal. Ta da!

For him.

For her.

Beautiful.

I love that these pieces are not your typical new-coat-of-paint-and-voila! They are thoughtful restorations that are sympathetic to the original style but also innovative in the stylish new features (the motifs and the knobs), some that are specifically personal to their new owners (the text). To see more pictures and read more of the back story have a look here.

Monday Dreaming

The worst thing about this beautiful home is not that it doesn't belong to me but that the people who have just sold it spent only 14, I repeat, 14 days in it over the two years they owned it!
