Kelsey Grammar is starting afresh so it's out with the old real estate to make way for the new. His 8 bedroom house in Bridgehampton, New York apparently just sold two days ago for the asking price of 9.95 big ones.

Monday Dreaming

It's time for another Monday dream house and this one, of the Nantucket clapboard variety, is quite lovely.  Cryin' shame, it's only a summer house.  

I love the pair of mirrors in the living room below, as well as the stencilled floors in the kitchen.

Now, I get it, the cow cut-out is a nod to the owners' Texas heritage and TH believes it "keeps the dining room mood light".  I'm no expert but it seems to me it keeps the mood of the dining room hysterical not light.  Sorry TH but a cow cut-out?  Really?  It's ridiculous.

This hallway and entrance are wonderful.  I'm a fool for white paint and dark wood combos.  I'd love to see what is framed in the picture box.

Ellengowan

I've been putting off writing about our rather fabulous weekend celebrating Dad's 70th milestone (or "millstone" as he prefers to call it) because it feels like one of those times where the retelling will only be let down by words as they fail to capture how wonderful it was.  So instead, a very picture heavy post as I try to capture some of the magic through photos.  I'm getting quite sentimental in my old age.

We all want Ellengowan for our very own.  Now.

Paddington Pad

My Sunday paper tells me that Jackie O (of the Australian variety) has her Paddington terrace up for sale as she's making a permanent move to Kangaroo Valley on the NSW south coast.

At quick first glance I thought there was a mirrored wall reflecting back a room but no, it really is double delight.  I love it.

I'm so taken with all the beautiful fireplaces in this home.

My dream house would most definitely have a small table in the kitchen.

The LV Keepall might be a showy prop, but it doesn't stop me from wanting one!

California Dreamin'

As it's not possible to overload on Rob Lowe I thought I'd share some pictures of the dream house he and his wife have built on California's coast as featured in the current issue of Architectural Digest.

Grand but tasteful.

The window seat looks big enough to be a window bed, love it.

As Liz Lemon would say - "I want to go to there."

The worst thing about this beautiful home is not that it doesn't belong to me but that the people who have just sold it spent only 14, I repeat, 14 days in it over the two years they owned it!

Movie Review : Life As We Know It

It's a pretty simple formula, Josh Duhamel + any plot line + any other actors + any director = fantastic movie. What's not to love?! Chicks at the Flicks has rolled around again and a group of us popped into our local for another fab evening. Again, the goody bags didn't disappoint, we made sure to enter they lucky dip raffle and cheered like crazy things when Sarah's name was pulled out of the bundle!

So, when are phone photos ever a good idea?? They captured the moment though (and blinded the subjects with iPhone's startling new super flash!).

We saw Life As We Know It, starring Josh Duhamel and it's hard to remember who else, just kidding, Katherine Heigl was a lovely if sometimes uptight Holly. The movie was a great romp with believable chemistry between the leads (I'm not talking Angelina/Brad Mr & Mrs Smith chemistry where I felt if I'd put a bottle under the screen I could have caught it as it oozed out of every pixel but still great chemistry nonetheless), good storyline and an excellent supporting cast of nosy/helpful neighbours. They were hilarious. Many of my biggest laughs came on the back of their funny one-liners and their perfect comic timing. Sarah Burns was hilarious as the case worker who turned up at all the wrong times. I want to say more but won't lest this post becomes a spoiler alert, so in short, I give this movie 4 out 5 stars. Grab a date with a mate and go see it!

Oh and by the way, you'd offer to live with ANYONE if you could reside in their house. It is beautiful and guess what, it's for sale. There is no blog that does a movie house more justice than Julia at Hooked on Houses and though the movie just come out she's already got a great post on the house.
