House Feature: Jennifer Lopez

Here's a dirty little secret for you - I watch American Idol.  Religiously.  Of course, I don't respect myself in the morning but give me 10 minutes of just about ANY reality show and I belong to it forever, I just HAVE to know what comes next.  Pathetic isn't it.  On the upside, if I wasn't watching  Jennifer Lopez in all her new-judge-Jenny-from-the-block-glory, I might have missed this beautiful feature of her home in Veranda Magazine.

I think if I'm being completely honest the colour scheme in the kitchen and living rooms may be a little icy for me BUT what it lacks in warmth it certainly makes up for in sophistication and elegance!

Architectural Digest: May Issue

The May issue of AD has dropped and one of the features I'm enjoying is their shout out to the work of Robert A.M. Stern.  They refer to him as a modern traditionalist and I like the style that implies.

Of all his featured properties I was most taken with a home on Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.

Of course the one image was never going to be enough so set about hunting for more photos, and specifically, photos of the interior.  I found them here on his website and unsurprisingly, they don't disappoint.

Gorgeous covered porches over stone walls wrap around the house.

The pool area is sheltered from the wind and a pergola and screened porch offer shaded seating near the deck.  And did I mention the view?  No words.

The round library in the tower features a floor-to-ceiling beach stone chimney.

The library from the outside and the guest house to the east of the entry court compartments the style of the main house.

I couldn't find any pictures of the lower level of the house that has been specifically designed for entertaining - a bowling alley, games room, and a boat bar connected to the wine cellar by a "hall of fishes."

Dissatisfied much?  To read more about this amazing home pop over here.

Dress Me Up Buttercup

Today some wallpaper arrived for my next DIY project - making over a very urglee-but-oh-so-practical dresser - so a little credenza/dresser/sideboard inspiration to get me started.

This last pair of lovelies are actually old record holders which I love as my stack of LPs are literally just that, a stack on the floor.  I hadn't thought to do something like this.

All images from Decor Pad.

Hope you're all having a lovely week.
