Deary shaped the porthole mirror from pieces of discarded pine. The ficus plant grows out of a Donald Judd-inspired plank box that used to be a desk. This guy is handy!
The kitchen table was made from joists dug out of a dumpster and after unearthing the house's old shutters in the basement Deary turned them into window casings.
Like the kitchen cabinetry, the vanity (bottom corner of pic) is built from a dismantled post-and-beam house.
A very moderate closet. Mind you, we can't see the hanging space - which incidentally features sleek plumping pipes Deary saved from a previous renovation job. Starting to see a trend here?
After gutting the house to brick and studs (filling 40-foot dumpsters/skip bins x4) they have turned a "warren of suffocating rooms into a stunning, light-filled shell" which they have filled and made their home.
